THIS CLASS ILLUSTATES THE IMPORTANCE OF PROCESS NOT PODUCT IN THE LIVES OF YOUNG CHILDREN. AT THIS AGE IT IS ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT FOR THE CHILDREN TO HAVE THE TACTILE EXPERIENCE OF RUBBING AND TOUCHING, SMELLING AND EXPLORING THE PAINTS USED AS WELL AS THE TOOLS USED IN MAKING THEIR PAINTINGS. IT IS NOT AS IMPORTANT FOR THEM TO PRODUCE SOMETHING AS IT IS TO HAVE THE EXPERIENCE OF MAKING SOMETHING. THE PRODUCT MEANS MORE TO THE CHILDREN BECAUSE OF THE EXPERIENCE THEY HAD IN MAKING IT. TO THEM IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING. IT MATTERS HOW IT FELT TO HAVE THE PAINT RUBBING ON THEIR HANDS, TO FEELS THE SQUISHING, SLIDING FEELING OF THE ROLLER, THE SUCTION FROM THE CORK ON THE PAPER, THIS IS THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS EXPERIENCE FOR THEM.
